There are people who transform a moment and there are people who inspire us for a lifetime.
For over six decades, world renowned ethologist and conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall has selflessly devoted her life to bringing a deeper meaning and understanding of humanity’s role in the natural world.
We are delighted and honored to award Dr. Jane Goodall this year, as her achievements go well beyond the traditional parameters of scientific research to define our modern perception of what it means to be human. We are rewarding her with the Templeton Prize because her discoveries have profoundly altered the world’s view of animal intelligence and enriched our understanding of humanity in a way that is both humbling and exalting. Dr. Goodall’s work exemplifies the kind of humility, spiritual curiosity, and discovery that John Templeton wrote and spoke about during his life.
Her tenacity and drive have inspired millions. We honor and celebrate her commitment to deepen our sense of awe, compassion, and responsibility for all forms of life in our world.
